Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ValuAid ("ValuAid", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the ValuAid mobile application for Android (the "App"). We act as the data controller for this personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of data:

Account & profile data	Email address, display name, and profile picture obtained from your Google account when you sign in with Google Sign-In.
Content you create	Photos of items you scan, item details you add, and the valuations and AI-generated analysis produced for those items.
Usage & technical data	App interactions, approximate diagnostic and crash information, and technical identifiers needed to keep you signed in and operate the App.

We do not collect your phone number, and we do not knowingly collect special categories of data (such as health, biometric, or financial account data).

2. How and why we use your data

We process your data for the following purposes and legal bases:

• To provide the App — creating your account, storing your items and photos, and generating valuations and analysis. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• To operate and secure the service — authentication, preventing abuse and fraud, diagnosing crashes, and improving reliability. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
• To communicate with you — responding to support requests and sending essential service notices. Legal basis: performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
• To comply with the law — meeting our legal and regulatory obligations. Legal basis: legal obligation.

3. How your data is shared

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers ("processors") who process it on our behalf and under contract, including:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage hosting for your account, items, and photos.
• Google — Google Sign-In is used to authenticate you; the App is distributed through Google Play.
• AI service providers — your item photos and details may be sent to third-party AI providers solely to generate valuations and analysis. We do not permit them to use your content to train their models where that option is available to us.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer, in each case subject to appropriate safeguards.

4. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

5. Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your account and associated data are permanently removed from our active systems within 30 days, and from encrypted backups within a further 30 days. We retain data we are legally required to keep only for the period the law requires.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
• erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@valuaid.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), www.dataprotectionauthority.be.

7. Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. See our account deletion page for the steps and details on what is deleted and what may be retained.

8. Data security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the relevant authority of any breach where required by law.

9. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are significant, provide additional notice.
